Most of the people who do that are people who didn't actually want to die and were just flipping out or it's just survival instinct making them think that. Tons of men have attempted suicide, lived and say they regret not dying.
Serious Why do people say "if you try to commit suicide and live, you'll regret it"?
The only reasons I could think of for regretting a suicide attempt is turning yourself into vegetable or ending up in a psych ward. Pretty sure anything else is NPC cope

you would be surprised how easy it is to drastically fuck up a suicide attempt. trying to rope can cause you to become paralyzed below the waist forcing you to shit yourself in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. with a handgun you can literally blow your entire face off by accident and live because you missed the part of your brain that would have actually killed you. etc etc
Because females do the most suicide attempts, and they do it for attention.
I always here them use this one guy's story about jumping off the Golden Gate bridge and regretting it as he fell as an example.
Yeah Ive heard of that to. Like with a gun youre supposed to aim through the mouth towards the brainstem. Doing it against the temple or under the chin can result in what you described. And there's also a difference between suspension vs drop hangings in how/how fast they kill the victim.
You'd think people would do more research before ending themselves. Guess that's the difference between the dumb attention whores and those who really mean it.
oh yeah, some people fuck up big time with hangings because they assume the goal is to suffocate yourself. literally one of the most awful ways to die, you spend like fifteen minutes in sheer agony gasping for air before you finally fall unconscious

I heard a football player named Junior Seau shot his heart and bled to death so his brain could be saved and studied for CTE or something like that? Really painful way to go, but it’s basically a 100% death rate. Or maybe get bitten by a black mamba if you go to Africa I guess? One person did survive one and it eliminated the part of his brain that made him depressed and suicidal and shit.
Jumping off great heights is the only simple suicide method that you have to be extremely unlucky to survive. Every other one has it's flaws that if you're not aware, might turn you into a vegetable which is arguably worse than being an Incel.
Taking a load of pills to od and you survive but fuck up your liver and kidneys. I imagine botched suicides are pretty common. Imagine being disabled through one, in a way that prevents you from trying again. You've made your life 10 fold worse than it was to begin with.

-Failure could be seen as a lack of integrity Ie. foid style attention whoring
-Fear of and having to face regret when you've crossed the point of no return but have time to realize that
-Knowing you can't reverse the gunshot wound, you can't stop the bleeding, whatever poison is already on an unstoppable course through your body, you can't unjump off a great height, and you can't always free yourself hanging by the neck from a rope
Obviously if anyone has any lasting injuries they are going to regret it because nothing like that is going to equate to better anything and everything much worse.
One thing no one mentioned though is the forever lasting stigma you will get from just about anyone who knows you've tried to commit suicide. It's a another one of those taboo soyciety issues subject. Everyone is encouraging the 'talk to people about it' to try and fake normalize it. In reality you will still be looked at strangley, possibly bullied, ignored, or just treated oddly because of your attempt. It'll even have the ability to fuck you for certain jobs, licences (driver, guns, travelling abroad, etc.) This reason for regret is almost unavoidable unless you tried to kill yourself along, failed, didn't suffer any injuries, and no one knew.
