some games are much better on a controller. I dont have one but I want one
few objective examples:
1) racing games. On keys, the minimum amount of steering you can do is tapping your key to the side. Alas, ur still turning at max speed. On a controller you can either nudge it half way, or quarter way, or maybe hold it 10% of the way so ur slowly adjusting during a long straight.
but on PC? its the same as if u moved ur joystick ALL the way every single time you turned, then released it.
Its an inaccurate input. It also causes your car to spin out way more frequently on dirt roads. It even makes you lose speed. In a game where good trajectory matters like f1 or trackmania, i imagine this is too ragged
2) sports games. a mix of racing game ^ and platformer ↓ explanation
3) platformers. I just played hollow knight. Its lame on a keyboard. You can only move sideways at max speed. Similar to racing. You cant really swerve mid air and back and forth. This causes u to overjump quite a lot
3D platformers - on pc directional keys usually only let u move the 4 directionals + perfect diagonals. What if u dont want to move at a 45 degree angle? a 65 degree angle perhaps? - now you have to zigzag your character instead of goign in a straight line like u would with a joystick
4) fighting games. Its definitely possible but you're accessibility capped. For one, its much easier to press buttons simultaneously on a roller. U might not realize this til u try tekken. U think ur pressing the keys at the same time but nope, 1 frame difference. Two, ur hands will be more splayed out, probably 1 button per finger, whereas on roller its often 2 buttons per finger. This requires more focus and leads to more mis-inputs. Three, many fighting games dont even bother mapping combo lines for keyboards, as well as all the terms use roller button names. Four, configuring your keys in settings so they are comfortable is extremely tedious. On a roller you probably only need your thumb to move. On a keyboard its 3 different fingers
