Why do people get defensive and emotional when I tell them that there is no free will ?

I think that free will is an illusion and that even is already determined I talked with my dad's girlfriends ex about this and he said that is an evil belief to have and that it's wrong.

It’s a question the geniuses are still debating. We could be living in a simulation.

There is partial free will. I know that we wont go against our comfort zone so we would most likely choose the same option every time. Its just our options are limited by genes and circumstances.

Pragmatism is why people believe this belief is evil. I think Jordan Peterson is pragmatic the same way about religion and gay stuff like that. It's helpful to believe in an illusion basically.

Define free will first thats the million dollar question right there @RandomGuy

Most people who talk about free will don't understand what they mean by free will, because they don't know how to articulate/formulate what they mean by it. They just listen to what others say about it and parrot the stuff they feel sounds right to them.

You have free will depending of what limits society gives you

Because they want to feel in control of their lives. Everyone wants to be a MC but most people are just NPCs

There's too much ambiguity and discourse on what "free will" even means to actually have a rational discussion about it with most people.

You are threatening their existential comfort.

Demons fight for control over you, and so do angels, and of course yourself
