It only seems to make sense within some kind of controlled environment.

So like... someone pays like $10k or whatever it is for a dragon lore skin in cs:go because you CAN'T just download a dragon lore png image and apply it to your gun for free. If you could do that, nobody would buy it.

So... what Ubisoft is doing kind of makes sense because now they're tied to a controlled environment.

But again I don't yet see why this is better than just doing it the way CS does it.

It almost seems to me like... if CS:GO skins magically switched to an NFT system tomorrow it would make no practical difference whatsoever.

Possibly they'd be a bit easier to trade.

Some technologies are just... interesting. And some can be simply tools that can be used in both good and bad ways.

Im not hardcore crypto freak. You should always diversify your portfolio so invest in crypto, stocks and real estate. But for me personally I prefer crypto due to being early and much more profits. Stocks is for old wealthy people making 2% profit in a year lol. Real estate is shit to maintain because there can be something broken and you have to pay more taxes and there is a risk that your real estate will be destroyed due to a hurricane or something like that

For example if you buy a houseshare property as opposed to a single let you have to cover all the bills but you make way more from it, which more than covers the extra expense.

The difference is that the data is stored permanently on the blockchain, ie on every computer in the world (that participates in the network). If CSGO servers go down somehow, eg a fire, which recently happened at a Google data center btw, all your data will be lost.
