If I had to guess I would say that most normies who claim this are being dishonest, with the rest simply being deluded. But even with the former, why even bother lying in the first place? Obviously I get that they're just virtue signaling. However I think what I'm really asking is; why is it a cultural expectation to lie in the first place?
