Why do normies take photos of their food?

Whenever I go out to eat at Chilis, applebees, etc I always see normies taking pics of their food. It boggles my mind why they're doing this. I think the underlying reason is the permanent and constant culture of narcisism that was established when social media came to be. They want to let know the whole word what they're doing and they want to feel validated constantly. It's like social media has created a population of drones who can't function properly without validation.
