I don't personally use FL studio. I'm not super familiar with it, but based on what I've seen, it looks like it would be more useful for people that are producing electronic music. The midi editing functions are pretty intuitive, but the only thing I use that type of functionality for is programming my drums. Everything else is either recorded direct or with a mic. If you are doing hip hop / rap / modern pop / electronic etc, then FL studio is probably a good option.
