Why do firemen always stare at me and react to my appearance weird?

Every fireman ive walked past stares at me weird just like a high school bully or something, even though they're like a 40 something year old clean cut man with a wife and kids, why is this? Is firefighting a profession which is heavily dominated by hyper-NTs or something?
