This happened to me so many times in middle school when I was bullied in my first year. At times I would think "enough is enough" and fight back but all I got were the teachers breaking up the fight and blaming me for not telling them first, for not having "self control" or other bullshit excuse. Well if I tell you you do nothing or you give me some condescending advice like "just ignore him", "it's just a prank" or "you have to understand he comes from a difficult family" WTF what do you want me to do then?
At one point I didn't care anymore about getting blamed, fighting back was the only way to stop bullying (temporarily) so you just got used to it. Even if you lost the fight they would lose interest in you and look for a different more vulnerable target. Luckily when I met a friend in middle school (this was like 6 months after middle school started) the bullying stopped because they are cowards that only pick on loners.
