I don't know much about the story, but I'm very much inclined to believe that finally reaching sexual success or achieving hedonistic fantasies won't bring lasting happiness to anyone here.
I know a couple of former mentalcels who became successful PUAs/gamers in their late 20s/early 30s. It was initially extremely pleasant, but after a few months, their depression returned in full force. They realized that they had made a very big issue in their youth of something that was actually as anecdotal as taking a crap. One became mad after falling in love with a girl he had gamed and being incapable of telling her the truth about him (a sex-obsessed monkey with no friends or career).
I think religion is truly right about degeneracy, it brings far less happiness on the long run than simple things like love, family, children, actual achievement like degrees, sports, etc.

All of Western society has forgotten this and that is why depression rates, divorce rates, cuckoldry rates etc. are rampant. Religion combined with Patriarchy is absolutely crucial for civilization.
