They don't have to be boring, I'm currently reading the visual novel trilogy "Kara no Shojo", and is been fun. You get to play as a 30 yo private detective (Chad) on the 1950s solving a case of disappearing highschool girls. Depending on your choices you can develop a love interest for any of your younger sister's friends (which are all 17, so as you can imagine that game can't be mainstream in this side of the world). It's on Steam, but only the first one, you can get the other 2 in other places. Enjoy your cope
