I think this is it. They got to experience seeing they way people treat them change proportionally with their loss of looks. They probably have some degree of ego death.

Also to some extent it is a pragmatic necessity, as they become increasingly old they must rely on their communities for social, logistical, and financial support. Don't fall for the act. They act nice to protect themselves from possible abuse. Geriatric women are among the most vulnerable people in society. Physically weak like a toddler and lost their beauty, meaning no simps for protection.
Give it 20-30 years when current generation will get old and you will see a difference. They will be full of bitter old holes that will be thirsty for their glory days of attention whoring out but they will be replaced by younger versions of themselves and will be left to suffer their declining attention.

Only thing you can do is be submissive and nice. Even some old men are like this because they know thay can get fucked up and they can't fight back. Most old people are very nice because of this, especially women because they can be utterly destroyed easily.
