I dont get it, why is it that normies act like marriage is the greatest thing in the world ? Marriage was useful back in the day so man could have a woman secured for themselves or they married for religious reasons, but that doesnt apply nowadays anymore. Nobody cares about religion anymore nowadays in the West and women have all the power in the marriage, marriage nowadays means giving a woman the power to socially, financially, sexually and mentally ruin and destroy you at any time. Men take their time and think when they are about to make important financial descisions, like buying a house or a car, but when it comes to wedding (which in total can easily cost up to 6 figures) they turn off the brain and burn all their hard earned money to try to impress some ran through roastie. Is societal expectations and muh tradition really the only reason men marry nowadays ?

As you said marriage does not provide that much, as it did before, especially for men, but is still being viewed as an important part of life by your average norman. For the most part pressure to get married comes from the women, because it still serves them well.

I think people still feel that it is a more stable structure for family life. People take you more seriously as a couple if you're married. Plus, you get certain benefits. My sister worked at an airport and got free flights for her and her spouse (which she did not have at the time).

Family pressure is a big part of it. "My parents expect me to get married and everyone else in my family got married." Also they want to make other people on Facebook and Instagram jealous with their proposal and wedding photos.
