Vote and comment below. Will America be able to reindustrialize? Will China lose its status as manufacturing superpower? Will America succeed in reducing China's rise? Will China be able to free itself from US hegemony?

America just because of the huge trade deficit between them. China makes all the stuff, America buys it

It's mostly stuff that Americans can afford to take a price hike on (cheap phones, christmas decorations, cheap kitchenwares, etc)

I see. Thanks for sharing your perspective. I'm illiterate on economics and supply chains.

basically, america would have to buy cheap plasticky stuff from mexico or india instead, while china would lose a lot of jobs

Curries make horrible quality shit so I don't think this will pan out well for America.

BTW, if America continues to buy cheap goods from other countries besides China, how will that bring manufacturing back to them (which seems to be Trump's ultimate goal here)?

It won't

can't profitably make t shirts that cost $5 in a first world country, the wages are too high

Makes sense, so why uproot existing supply chains in China and shift them to India/Mexico? Just to decouple from China?

I don't know tbf, im too uninformed and low iq.

china would just sell it's shit to third worlders at a cheaper rate and bear a loss instead of wasting it all.

USA will win because labor is becoming highly automated now. They will just spin up their dark factories, machines making product. USA has the resources and power to produce their own goods. Also we will still be trading with south East Asian countries because a lot of factories moved there from China during the COVID lockdowns, and Mexico is next door too. These countries already have called to negotiate free trade deals.

Simple, very simple. America wins because USA is China's main export market as well as the EU.

The trade balance is positive for China and negative for Americans. Meaning China receives more money from USA than the give USA

who cares? that's normie problems.

China loses in the long term. America can win, but it can also lose if it fucks up deindustrialization.

Banks will get in trouble do to treasury bond holdings if China pulls the rug.
Hasn't China been dumping US treasuries for quite sometime now with Europeans stepping in?

smartphones assembled in India are worse in quality than China/Taiwan.

Of course! We have no system to do that shit here.

I think if Japan and South Korea sides with China then American and Europe have a problem.
Japan holds 1 trillion US debt vs China at 800 billion.
