I think one mistake he made is revealing his age.
I try to keep my age a bit ambiguous online. Otherwise... pretty much whatever age you are there's someone who will criticise you for it!

Sometimes I wonder if my old friends that I used to play Counter-Strike with still play video games. Maybe some do a little but I'd be surprised if any play regularly. Most people after about 25 don't get as much enjoyment from them anymore mostly because your brain chemistry changes.
As for having better things to do as an adult... hm. I think most adults have more responsibilities so less recreational time. But then they usually find time to go to the pub with their mates so... I don't especially see a reason why you couldn't have a LAN game or something.
