We are depressed but there is nothing fundamentally wrong with our brains. Our brains are reacting perfectly normally to the situation, but we are trapped in suffering as natural selection has no incentive to make the experiences of its failure byproducts any more bareable, we will never pass on our genes, that’s the whole point after all.
