I for one think the Donnelly definition (6 months failure to find) is a bit low and arbitrary, so my policy in practice is to at least double it to 12 since it's conveniently solar.

You can of course make it longer but any length of time we choose is arbitrary, which is why I've proposed in the past to come up with different names describing different lengths of celibacy.

For example a virgin in his mid-30s has been without sex for ~20 years of ability to do so, so you might call him a "scorecel" (score means twenty) whereas a virgin in his mid-20s has only been celibate a functional decade so you could call him a "decadecel".

Now of course: a guy who is 50 who had sex 1 time when he was 30 would also be a "scorecel" since he two has gone 20 years without sex.

If you want to distinguish between the 50yo scorecel and the 30yo scorecel you could probably just use "virgin" tbh
