I used to enjoy editing gaming videos as a kid and a couple of years ago I decided to buy a decent camera, make a bunch of mock adverts to build a portfolio. Then just applied for jobs by sending my portfolio to all the video production companies in my city and ended up getting a few interviews. I think for stuff like that you don't even need a degree (I didn't get one) Practice makes perfect bruh

I first offered my dept head to implement that thing on company time and he wasn't interested so I made it in my spare time, patented it and started selling it to competitors (and eventually also to the company I was working at). It wasn't some stroke of genius or anything, it's just when you do a job and distill all your daily job-related annoyances into a solution.
So for now the money is trickling in. I'm not rich (especially for the area I live in) but money's no problem and I don't have to work at all.

I've found that during periods of my life where I wasn't working towards anything or challenging myself I was the most depressed. I think humans are kind of programmed to have goals to stay happy.

Coding is a real pain in the ass, I did one term at university on a audio and music production course but one of the modules was computer programming and coding (programming virtual synthesizers) And I fucking hated it haha, my brain just didn't click with it at all so I ended up dropping out. So it is difficult for sure, I think you need to be a certain type of person to do coding.
Could always go into design / the more creative side of things.
Also, I've been doing deliveroo on evenings and weekends which is actually good money. Just getting paid to ride my bike to restaurants then delivering the food to people. £4 per delivery and I can get like 5 deliverys in an hour sometimes so it's actually good money, could make an absolute killing if you did it full time. Not to mention getting in shape. No skills or experience required and you can sign in and sign out whenever you want so you have no boss telling you when to work or what to do, you can go home if you're tired, take a day off if you want to.
Also, you don't have to talk to people too much, just talk to the guy at the restaurant for like 20 seconds, then drop the food off with minimal conversation.
A friend of mine who does it full time does about 30 deliveries a day, £120.

Yeah, I got no qualifications, I left school because I was about to kill myself or someone if I stayed in any longer, literally walked out the gates every couple of days whenever someone would insult me or bully me. I just given up, there's simply too much stacked against me for me to ever contribute to society or try and live a fulfilling life, it's very sad but that's just reality for me and some others. I can't take medication for anxiety cause I can't swallow pills, so I just given up completely, haha.
