I have some restaurants a 3 min walk from me. I go periodically to them by myself. No big deal. Often I get takeout, but sometimes if I'm stressed after work, I'll just go there and eat, then go home.

Depends what you count by restaurants. I eat fast food or takeout alone all the time but I never eat alone sit down meals. Last time I did I got made fun of by the waitress.

I almost allways ate alone during college years. Sometimes i was litteraly the only guy eating alone in a room filled with more than 200 people.
Also, i went lots of times to restaurants alone, because i had to eat outside but i (obviously) could not convince anyone to eat with me.
