I have always been drawn to the prostitute as a symbol. Compared to a regular woman she is:
- Honest (no illusions or strings, treats sex as a need, x money for x minutes)
- Merciful (quick, reliable sexual access regardless of a man's attractiveness)
- Countercultural (supporting men otherwise sexually excluded by status)
Dialectically this casts the regular woman as dishonest, unmerciful and conformist. "Worse than a whore" as Feynman would say.
"Prostitution and robbery are two living protests, respectively female and male, made by the natural state against the social state." - Honore de Balzac
There's archetypal synergy between the male NEET/criminal and the female prostitute: both direct, excluded, uncivilised. He sustains her materially, she sustains him sexually, when no one else would, and without a care for the source of his money.
