I'm going to play the RE games, I've played re7 and re8 and I've been meaning for years to play the 3rd person games but haven't gotten around to it earlier.

I'm thinking of either re1 or re2 remake. I want to play the second one because it is newer and I'm not planning on binge playing all the games, but is it a bad idea to start with the second game? I barely have any knowledge of resident evil, I only know a few characters and watched a movie when I was a kid

edit: i decided to go with re1 2002. it looks the most simple (ill probably get overwhelmed if i start with re2r) and seems like it is a good introduction to the franchise. thx 4 ur recs every1

only 3rd person RE I played was RE3 remake (u could prob guess why).

Re1 remake or RE4. Re1 isn't required if you don't want to get into the classic games. It's a very different series gameplay wise starting with 4.

what is different?

and why not re2r?

Resident Evil Zero was the first one I played. Give it a chance.

when i read your reply i immediately looked up the main character of the game, it was my first guess lol

RE2 remake has a different gameplay style as well and isn't a proper remake of 2. RE2 is more of a reboot that leads into the new remake games such as RE3 and RE4. They're completely different games from the originals.

RE1 is an actual remake

i'm getting conflicting opinions but i guess story wise it doesn't matter too much. i will watch gameplay videos of all of them and play whichever one i like the most

it's the only one I finished. I only played about 2 hours of RE3 and like 5 hours of RE7
I only finish and really enjoy the ones with cheats and all unlocked pass; reason of why I don't really liked resident evil 4 remake, only exceotion was resident evil 7

i bought RE4 a year ago but haven't even opened the application. vile habit of mine.

Can't relate, the moment I buy a game I have to finish it and focus only on it without playing other games, it's almost compulsive

my steam library and all my emulators are stacked and collecting dust. as I got older and as my mental illness progressed just finishing a single game has become a monumental achievement.

I feel you, I abandoned gaming 1 year ago because everything felt like a chore, only playing mobile games that don't require installation
