I have explored this topic before, but in another angle. People were asking my opinion on if Chinese was to become a international language.

I have concluded that it is in fact, a curse for the Brits, because they no longer have their own agenda, and they cannot hide behind their own language anymore. Want to be edgy/controversial? Congrats! Everyone around the world will know what you are talking about!

Also, language serve as one of the strongest barriers to immigration/social intregration.

Russia didn't even help Armenia when it fought Azerbaijan, despite the former being in CSTO at the time and the latter not. Which technically meant that the entire CSTO should've come to help Armenia, but no one did; with Russia having committed everything to Ukraine and the others not even pretending to care by asking for Russia to let them sent their troops to its territory to help Armenia or whatever.

The Chinese just flat out don't care. They could probably be sending material and they definitely have a greater ability to just transport stuff to the other side of the world, nevermind just having more weapons, materials and money they could send than Russia, but nothing outside of their own region and direct investments interests them much.

And speaking of CSTO, it's not like either of those two have any binding common defence treaty with Venezuela or anything, anyway.
