Usually, most deportations happen at the border and most deportees are multiple offenders. Under Trump, border crossings have collapsed, so fewer people at the border means fewer deportations. However, it actually means more people are being kicked out of the US rather than just being turned away.

Many of the migrants that Biden let in were offered temporary protected status and are actually temporarily legal. Their status needs to be revoked before they can be deported and that’s been held up in the courts. The Supreme Court just allowed Trump to end TPS for Venezuelans on Monday. Deportations will only grow from here.
