He was a mentalcel + locationcel. Isla Vista, especially at the time would have been one of the worst regions (if not the worst region) in America in regards to hypergamy. Clearly he also went through a lot and had obvious underlying mental conditions that you will understand once reading his manifesto.

Just another thing, people call him a fakecel for being a "standardcel", and say that he only wanted blonde girls. In the manifesto it was made clear that no girl wanted him, despite his attempts.

Funny you mention it, the reason why Elliot moved to the locations he did, was because his father Peter Rodger was a movie director, and was ceasing career opportunities.

Peter Rodger directed the movie The Hunger Games (very famous).

I know right. Another interesting thing about Peter Rodger, in an interview he was discussing his son Elliot, and during a very serious part he started laughing out of nowhere. I tried to find the clip just now but I couldn't. Interesting....
