I think a massive recession could have a great effect to subdue our popularity. In a way, pair-bonding is a first-world problem. If people can't even put food in their mouths, Maslow's hierarchy of needs steps down a notch.

A massive reccession would make foids more likely to date more purely for economic reasons, not just for looks and social status. However a new massive recession may play out differently than 2008- simply due to technological advancements that make it so foids have the opportunity to get free shit easier.
