According to Wikipedia that should be at age 20 or below, but they don't give you exact information on when a woman is most fertile. I'd guess it's around age 15-16, that's not pc enough though so they don't dare to mention it, also intercourse at that age is illegal in some countries.

Teen moms could disproportionally be having autistic children due to drug abuse or failed birth control etc. which would explain the autism peak. I don't think it's due to lack of fertility. Also "teen" can mean 13 yo (which is a little young) and 18 or even 19 yo (which is perfect for fertilization, probably even better than being 20 yo) ... it's always important to know the details when reading studies like this. Unless proven otherwise I'll keep on believing in peak fertility at age 16 since it makes sense from a biological perspective. I don't think it's that simple tbh. Autism is almost enitrely genetic, but it could be "triggered" by parents' age.
I think women are at their most fertile around 20-22, but you need to keep in mind that foids age faster than they used to because of their diet and lifestyle, so what once used to be a prime looks-wise, is not a prime anymore (at least in western countries).
If the study was about 13-14 year old teens I'd believe them in an instant, as many 13-14 year olds are not yet ready to be fertilized. But if they mean 16-19 year olds by "teens" I just can't fathom they'd be more prone to autistic children for reasons of fertility ... there must be another thing causing this. It was totally normal to be pregnant at the age of 17-18 just a few generations ago, and autism rates were actually lower.

Humans are not even meant to live longer than 50 years or something, so that girls peak at an early age is just natural. During the stone ages the average age of a pregnancy for a girl was 13. A peak in fertility at the age of 16 makes way more sense than peaking in their twenties where they don't even grow / develop anymore, both biologically and historically, as even our great-grandparents generation had children at that age.

I think it's because autists wouldn't breed at all in the past, they would often die in their youth. Autism is often linked to other physical heath problems. Even now, when our health care is much more advanced, autists die at the age of 36 on average. Still, autistic people, or people carrying autism gene, get to breed and spread their autistic genes on a bigger scale than in the past. That's just my retarded theory though, since I haven't found any paper about this.
