Serious When did metal turn soy?

When did the fanbase turn soy? If you go to a metal concert today you will find many soy boys with oversized glasses, beards and lumperjack shirts. I think in the 80s and early 90s the metal fanbase were bikers who wore leather, maybe oldcels could tell me more?

I think it turned soy when Nu-Metal came in, bands like Korn, Linkin Park and Slipknot, Slipknot fanbase is surprisingly very soy I noticed, I do like nu metal but it attracts a lot of soys and females.

Even bands like Slayer and Iron Maiden have soy fans, go to a festival and you will see.
