I'm mid twenties.... I wanted to go see alone but my mother is insisting she see it with me. Not trying to get thrown out of the house over some bs like this, she thinks I'm going to shoot up the film so w/e. It'll be so cringe being an oversized child with my mommy in the theater.
I really wanted to go this weekend alone, but I have college work to do
1. Just say no, she isn't going to throw you out of the house for not seeing a movie with her, that just sounds like some ridiculous excuse so you can rationalize you wanting to spend time with your mother, because if you weren't alright with it, you wouldn't do it
2. Why the hell did you even make her aware of your plans, like you said, you are in your mid twenties, its as simple as saying "I'm going out", then end, no need to tell your mom you are going to see X movie on X date. You can't say "I'm mid twenties" yet you operate as if you are a child, of course she's going to treat you like one
3. Your story sounds convoluted, you just sound like a larp (like you are trying to parody incels). If your mother thought you were going to shoot up the place she'd have confronted you directly about it, she'd be in a panic, she would not calmly decide - "oh well, guess I'll just go to the movies with my assumed murderous son to keep him from killing people"
She's looking for any reason to make me homeless tbh, it's not like this alone is going to spur her into kicking me out.

It's maybe a little hyperbolic for comedic value. IDK why she would want to watch it otherwise, she says she thinks it looks depressing. She has definitely insinuated that she thinks I'll end up ERing before. She's probably not the most mentally stable person either so maybe she doesn't have the normal reactions people might have to their son being an ogre manchild.

When you live with your parents, they tend to need to know when you'll be back so they know you're not dead. At the very least you gotta be like "I'm gonna be back around such and such time."
