Catching monsters with certain elemantal characteristics and making them battle is what I thought was cool as a kid, and it's still interesting even today but not as much as before

Making money? Scalpers are one of the main reasons why Pokémon cards are so expensive. They actively buy and hoard as many cards as possible to make them rarer, thus making them more expensive. It becomes a virtuous cycle for them.
I tried playing two games and watching the anime, but I just got bored.

Never really liked the series or game. The way the poke world works is just strange because it is legalized dog fighting. Probably that's why it appeals to normies, subconsciously being sadistic. I mean the pokemon don't really have a choice, they get beat to shit in the wild only to end up in a ball and when they come out they then have to get beat to shit or beat to shit some other slave.
