from a scientific perspective i would say the meaning of life is to reproduce, that's why we are here and that's the ultimate goal of most life forms, to spread their genes, it's similar to how hydrogen is the first atom formed in nuclear fusion, then helium, simply because they are the most stable elements. likewise, the most well adapted life forms are the most stable, they come about for no specific reason, it's just how the universe is, something science has yet to find an answer for

The tricky part is that humans, unlike animals that primarily reply on raw strength, have numerous ways to cheat their genetics. Plastic surgery, betabuxxing, surrogate mothers etc. That’s why ugly genes will always exist.

i agree, another perspective might be that the environment is constantly changing so the standards & expectations are always changing, so genes that are more well adapated will have higher fitness while the genes that are less well adapted will have lower fitness and eventually cease to exist in the population.
