I already learned some chords. What do I do now? Do I just play songs or do I follow a course on youtube?

I recommened getting a tutor otherwise you'll be fixing your rookie mistakes later down the line.

I would also learn how music is constructed and the theory behind it. This will make you sound better.

Leave the distortion off for the first 2 years. Don't neglect funk music as this will develop your rythem.
