Back then, I was so eager to talk to people outside my own race—it was the first time I'd ever really had that kind of interaction. That instinct, combined with the desire to get my messages across as fast as possible, meant I just didn't care about spelling or grammar. I wanted to type as fast as I could and get the message delivered.
