Sure, they say diggerchen, diggi etc. It is just a north german word that is popular.... Anyhow I have used the word maybe one time in real life, the funny thing is that to non german speakers "Digger" is similar to "Nigger" which is why I used it to referr to the specimen in that thumbnail.

I hardly ever heard that a few years ago, but now it seems like everyone's saying it. It's a relatively new phenomenon/trend.
It's possible that variations of this are part of everyday language in northern Germany, but as someone from the Rhineland, I can't really judge that.
