I've had an conversation about exactly this with some discord people, and I thought that would be interesting for you guys.

In my opinion, what would change the outcome of coding and IT field in general, is not AI chatbots by themselves, but they will play a BIG ROLE in reducing the amount of programmers.

It will be highly simplified boilerplate apps. What I mean is, apps that let you create something like Instagram by pressing a button with some easy configurations. By then, it will only need 1-2 senior programmers to maintain the application.

One thing no one tells you is that, cooperative programming is a massive drag on productivity. Different style of coding, different approaches, wrong interpretation of guidelines etc. With less number of programmers, it will be much more efficient.

For even more efficiency, an AI bot like chatgpt can be implemented into the framework itself; currently, almost no websites are custom, so the AIs can very easily integrate itself (MEAN stack, spring boot, etc).

Moreover, CRUD apps are very similar in nature, with POST VIEW DELETE etc etc, so it will not ever be a challenge for AIs.

For the sake of efficiency, every websites will end up looking more or less the same, just as our cars, phones did. This is the "globohomogenization" of the internet.

Jews control the appstore there will be nothing new.

fucking over STEMcels

Why did templates for websites never become popular then? Like wix and shit. There’s always some highly specific needs that aren’t available in the form of a template and requires human intelligence
Because there are few reasons.

1.the current templates/frameworks are ridiculously hard to setup. Full stack is a nightmare.
2.WIX demands ownership (your site has to be hosted on them), which is something companies don't want
3.these niche features can be added by a small group of elite programmers easily or an AI bot (which then the programmers can see if there's any mistakes)

OP is right, AI will wipe out sub 120IQ STEMcels. Maybe one day it will wipe out all STEMcels in general. I'm a STEMcel who has played around with AI quite a bit and know its strengths and weaknesses.

Moreover, currently, frameworks are not very well connected. The database, frontend renderer, frontend code, backend code are all handled by different framework (in most of the cases) made by different companies, hence, limiting their efficiency.

In the future, there will be one unified app that is super easy to configure and maintain, in a single software. Imagine you don't have to use your oracle SQL developer just to view SQL, and setup the red hat shit just to boot things up

Weaknesses: Get any AI to analyze the time complexity of a semi-complex algorithm. You will know how far off it is from being decent at that level of work. Also it cannot formulate algorithms or even pattern match beyond a few trivial cases.

I don't think it will wipe out all STEMcels, but it will definitely reduce number of junior/entry. Eventually, only the most elite will be left (to maintain the apps).

Btw did you played for hobby or something? I'm a employed programmer myself so I know how things works

I don't expect AI to take my job in my lifetime but I do expect it to make things more competitive especially at mid level and bottom tier. Yeah I coded for a living for last 16 years.

There's thousands upon thousands of templates already, there's wordpress and whatever. They won't replace the need for custimizable stuff, it's always what's custom that's expensive. Not generic stuff

In less than 20 years all STEMcels will become obsolete. STEM is just methodology and mathematics, with coding if you are a programmer. All of these things can be easily replicated by an algorithm. The same can be said for office and admin work.
Honestly I think the only field that will be safe is manual labour jobs, but even then we might see an influx of cheap 3D printed robots to carry out tasks like that.
