I understand this patriarchal concept of being stern and harsh with your son so he becomes a man but that’s a relic of the past. Nowadays that only works if you’re actively teaching him something useful like a sports coach or music tutor. Shouting at some docile kid stuck at home is only going to make him more depressed and weak.
Boys are not like girls, they gain confidence from developing their masculinity and learning new skills. Forcing them to focus on studycel or obeying is a waste of time. They’ll just become submissive and incapable of thinking for themselves. And they’ll end up idolising violent crime and fast money.
Besides someone who’s good at school will go on to succeed anyway (due to competition with other nerds) and males generally don’t really need to be glued to their parents. All you’re really doing is raising your son like a daughter TBH, ‘stay at home do what I say’ and killing his male drive
