It's truly a mystery to me. I don't think there's any ethnic group even in South Asia as subhuman as kanglus. I can't think of a single metric kanglus are not rock bottom at. Even their outliers are usually Bengali Brahmins (intellectuals like Tagore and moggers like Ronit Roy), who are genetically closer to UP Brahmins than to kanglu muslims. I have never heard of any kanglu muslim chad ever. Some of their foids can be cute ig, but not world class in any way.

I think its definitely the famines but also their genetic makeup. Kanglus are mostly AASI (50-60%+), and in addition to that 15-20% chink (Burmese-related) component mixed in. Hence they are literally an amalgam of AASI jeet+SEA genes, the two worst ever racial components you can think of. They have absolute minimal West Eurasian (having low Steppe + the lowest Zagros out of all non-Northeast curries). This is the case for all muslims in the Indian subcontinent outside of Kashmir and Punjab. Throughout UP, Bengal, Bimaru, South India etc, this pattern stands: it was primarily the lower class hindus who converted to Islam for prospects of social mobility promised by muslim rulers/sufi preachers.
