It's unsatisfying
Pubescent and post-pubescent males are biologically hardwired to be horny 24/7 and wanting sex 24/7. It's comparable to the need for food and water. When you have young man whose brain is pumping testosterone through his body, telling him "Sex! Sex! Sex!", an opportunity for release is imperative. When you deny him that, as well as make him watch everyone else get their share, it's preposterous to think that he could be happy with it.
(Imagine a starving child)
It's cruel
In this day and age, "sex sells" is a common marketing tactic. From music to movies to tabloids to commercials to social media, an incel is constantly forced to see exactly what he's missing out on, and is constantly reminded that he'll never enjoy that pleasure.
(Now hold a rack of tender barbecued pork-back ribs in front of him, but out of his reach)
It's sadistic
Here, in a post-sexual-revolution society, the media isn't the only pusher of sex and love, it's rampant in the flesh. Everywhere an incel walks; downtown, the mall, the beach, the suburbs, even the grocery store, couples are always in sight. Many of them hold hands and kiss in public, some sweetly whisper "I love you", and some do even worse. (NSFW)
(Now take that rack of ribs, start eating them in front of him, and allow everyone else to eat them - except him.)
It's unfairly stigmatizing
When a man tries to express his frustration at these events, he's shunned, mocked, and called a loser. When groups of men with these issues congregate to share their problems and support each other, they get viciously attacked and bullied by Reddit and by mainstream media. A common insult is "You're not entitled to sex/love!". It's correct that we aren't legally entitled, but it is a moral right. Article 25 of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family.". Sex is a basic human need.
While the UN might not have much power of legal enforcement, it does set a good point for most people's moral values.
(Now when the child expresses his desire for the food, publicly shame and humiliate him, and tell him that he's not "entitled".)
Finally,
It's depressing
Being an ugly male doesn't only affect your love life, but your life in general. Many incels like myself get bullied by our more fortunate peers, for no other reason than our looks. Girls don't just ignore us, but dirty looks and insulting whispers are common thing for an incel to see and hear. It's almost like we carry shockwaves of negative emotions wherever we go. Our parents are ashamed of us, our peers hate us, and women vomit at the sight of us.
But the only advice that good-hearted people, including psychiatrists, tell us is to stop "focusing" on sexlessness and "enjoy our lives".
(Now abuse that child, but tell him that he doesn't "need" food, and that he should "just enjoy life".)
That is what it's like to be an incel.
