This is correct. Ever noticed how things may randomly disappear? Or if you have deja vu and you feel a certain way? Or how time seems to move faster or slower? That is the simulation bugging out.

I believe humans are like biomachines who doesn't have a purpose, when we die the machine is turned off and we no longer exist. The universe keep out there, but we not.
