indeed, they posses elite franchises that could ascend them back to glory if executed with the right formula, the likes of prince of persia, classic assassin’s creed, splinter cell and more, a well deserved downfall since they never truly cared
the classic games are good, the new ones are just open world towers merchant slop with mundane narrative and unoriginal mechanics

i honestly played through the whole franchise and it got progressively worse but DS1 is a great game, DS2 got foids shoved into it forcefully which ruined the story but gameplay and level design wise it’s solid, death of the outsider presented you with a sheboon protagonist which marked the demise of the franchise
back when devs loved their work, the 6th gen was the last era where the industry was thriving with each year

remasters/remakes are extremely delicate and require exquisite expertise from the developing studio, a large portion of games get ruined in the process because the devs are clueless about what made them elite pieces of media in the first place, furthermore, some games are better left untouched to preserve their charm since a modernistic touch may deteriorate the quality
