What even is it? Women talk about it a lot. A simple definition I found states this: “Patriarchy is a social system in which men hold primary power and authority over women and children, often leading to the marginalization of women and the enforcement of traditional gender roles.” However, the marginalization of men and the enforcement of traditional gender roles among men happen too. I feel like patriarchy is often used as an excuse.
“Women body-shame short men.” “That’s the patriarchy's fault.”
“Women will break up with a guy for crying.” “That’s the patriarchy's fault. ”
Feminists should start taking responsibility and stop attacking men for every little thing; they should admit they’re jerks who hate ugly men.
