It comes from “tales from the hood” I’m pretty sure. The original joke was “tales from the basement” as a way of saying that the user was lying about their experience and just came up with a bullshit tale, while in reality they haven’t left their mom’s basement. Tales from Mumbai is just the looksmaxx version that is essentially the same joke but calling the user Indian as well
