I am not a christian but i know the channel. i think the curse lies in Cain if i just follow the train of thought for entertainments sake. According to the genealogy of the bible we are direct descendants of Cain - there is a stark shift in that part of Genesis leading to the further downfall of humanity. Cain being the first real conceived human being alongside his brother Abel - the mark of Cain can be interpreted as the mark of humankind leading on and on, since he killed Abel (God's favorite of the two) - It should be noted that Genesis is a later work in the first testament despite it's chronological order.
