i never understood the appeal of slice of life despite watching so many of it. i just thought to watch them for my own sake, but then it just annoyed me and made me more resentful, and passive aggressive. then i just switch to watching what i want to watch, not from the opinions or suggestion from others.

dark slice of life does it for me especially if i know its monopolized stupors in the delivery has satirical humor, not so much a crazy slice of life fan.

slice of life is very boring, I've never been a big fan. Unless it has some sort of gimmick (like Shimeji Simulation's weird surrealism) I won't be very interested on it, so isekai by process of elimination even though I don't particularly like it either

Low key, but I think a lot of the slice of life stuff are tranimes, especially those that have Yuri (lesbian elements mixed in). Transgenders are obsessed with lesbian stuff themselves.

yeah, SoL is more popular I believe, so you have more shows to choose from, besides it's more light-hearted even if it's generic, isekai is generic but also ridden with retarded clichés.

Mixing Isekai and SoL has some good potential, rather just simply fantasy and SoL.
We can blame the slopiness on Sword Art Online for starting this trend (one of the most insufferable animes out there), but then some others eventually took off, and that's why there's so many isekais now.
Yeah, I don't understand why it sometimes get overhyped (like K-On for example), but I suppose people just have different tastes, like in music, games, even food, etc.
With isekai there's some world building involved, which can make it interesting.
