I've studied music my whole life, but am far from classically trained.
For leisure I used to read a lot of pop-sci pertaining to string or m theory (all the Brian Greene books, The Black Hole War, Michio Kaku, etc.)
Now I stick to science fiction with the occasional fantasy.

A lot of people aren't patient when doing maths. I could relate to them, sometimes I'm impatient, but rather I'm a slow learner. You just have to learn how to develop your intuition, connect the dots, and get good at using symbols. Its like how you learn arithmetic and do basic operations, like adding, subtracting, multiplying, divding with balls, or apples. It does get a little tougher when you apply some of your intuition into algebra, calculus, and beyond. But learning takes time, mate. You could check-out Khan Academy, work your up, then try using James Stewarts Calculus textbooks, and undergrad texts in analysis/algebra/geometry/topology. Good luck.A Good Friend said:
