What can you do on a computer?

I know the question is stupid, but hear me out.

I've spent 16 more or less hours a day on my PC pretty much since I was a kid. But I just did the same few things over and over: browsing the net, watching sitcoms/youtube, playing games. Little else.

BUT. I remember when I was in school, every now and then I'd hear guys talking. They would do all kinds of interesting shit on their computer. Even the ones that weren't super nerds, but the nerds even more so.

See, my problem is a lack of imagination. I can be very creative when I'm given a certain specific direction cause I think out of the box. But when I'm given total liberty, a big sandbox to do whatever I want, then I just don't do anything at all, like a literal NPC.

Anyway, what kind of stuff can you do on a PC? Better yet, what did you do that's not just the standard watching shit or reading shit or playing shit.

Reminds me of my childhood. Wanted to get a pc to do all that cool stuff in MS paint or Word. Got one and ended up only playing video games on it.

You should give a direction of what you mean by "cool stuff". You can always learn shit like, graphic design, photoshop or coding.

Coding would be great but it's not for me because of one very bad thing. See, when people learn to code, they have things in mind that they want to do. Projects, even if not right away but eventually. But for me, the freer I am, the more that can be technically done, the less I do, the less idea I have of what to do. There's many things you can do with coding, but I can never think of any that I will motivate me to actually do something, a worthwhile goal to reach.

Learn programming. Python is the easiest to learn and is very user friendly. I reccomend C++ though, there are plenty of tutorials on youtube and you can learn pretty much everything there is to it in 8-10 months of intense studying and practice.

That is true and it's THE thing I should do. But, as I said in the previous post, my problem is a mix of lack of imagination when presented with total freedom and a sandbox, as well as a complete lack of motivation or interest in anything in life that would allow me to pick a direction and narrow down what I actually want to do and why the hell I'm learning, what the hell I'm learning for.

Editing videos, coding like you said, design in photoshop. I mean even if it's building something that other ppl have already done you can learn a lot of useful things. For coding some interesting things would for example be writing your own webapp, webscraping, machine learning, building a tool for a game you play, or build a game yourself (see PyGame) or something you find tedious that could be automated. You could even contribute to an open source project that you like. Just to name 2 concrete examples, the Frankerz plugin on twitch and possibly extending it with a new plugin. If you play RS you could work on the RL client and make your own plugin. Options are endless for coding. I doubt you have a lack of imagination, you just need to find a solution to a problem that you think would be worth spending your time on.
