my familyscat refuses to enter the door unless she gets carried inside, it's not like she doesn't want to be in there, she just stands at the door and waits for someone to carry her inside because its like a comforting thing for her

we don't really mind this quirky of hers, I think it's kind of a safety thing for her. her last owner died whilst she was trapped in the apartment with him and she was stuck in there for hours whilst police and medical care were in there and they wouldn't let us take her to our place so she was extremely traumatised. after that she's been extremely timid and it was really hard to get her inside once they actually let her outside, so we started leaving food in our apartment complex doorway to make sure she had somewhere safe to stay and for her to know that there's food and shelter there. I think it may have to do with that, we're just happy she now sees us as her home and isn't scared of us like she was when this all went down. we're happy to carry her inside if that's what makes her happy. we also have a dog that she likes to avoid, so us carrying her inside limits her time on the floor where our pup is lol.

we were so worried about her when my fathers friend came back from our neighbours place saying that he had died. the man who died was a family friend kind of, so it was of course heartbreaking to hear that he was found dead when just 20 minutes earlier he was happy and smoking a j (he ofc didn't die from the pot) he suffered a severe stroke a couple years earlier due to addiction and he never stopped doing hard drugs.

but to then also hear that his cat that was his whole world was still in there locked up with his body just felt cruel to us, and the cops refused to even tell us if she was in there or not to begin with. they later told us that she was pacing around in distress and screaming for him to wake up..

we as humans often times see animals just as pets who doesn't know or understand the consept of death, but trust me when I tell you that they absolutely do.
