Who gives a fuck about the story. People just want a sandbox drenched in a post apocalyptic atmosphere where they can freely LARP. If you want to know the story, then read the novel it's based off of: roadside picnic. Which is leaps and bounds better than any of the "lore" you'll find in the first three games.
