Ok, this is a stupid thought, but it could technically work.
Imagine a society where everyone wears something like a burka all the time. Both men and women.
You only ever see someone without one in private, when you're intimate. By that time, you're dating/married.
From birth till death, you see very few people without their burkas. Your parents, siblings, close relatives, and eventually your spouse and children.
Ugly men will still be ugly, and women will know that. But at that point, many defects, flaws (not deformities) will be forgiven. You'll be her one and only, the only male face she's seen. Of course she'd still be comparing you to her father.
Shit, forgot about the internet and TV. They'd see Chad faces online.
