I think there’s a good chance that they stop using this terminology when the hive mind moves on to the next meme that fulfills their “look at me I’m so weird and quirky rawr xD” desires. I remember Pepe went so mainstream with normies in 2015 that even buzzfeed was writing articles about it and my sister was talking about him, but all that instantly stopped when a new batch of memes became the current normie thing.
