The banning of Braincels by Reddit is one of the extreme forms of censorship that has happened to the Incel community.
Why would Reddit introduce a new "harassment" rule to try to get rid of Braincels and other subreddits such as TheRedPill? Reddit has a habit of making or changing rules as a reason for quarantining or banning subreddits, and this incident is no different. I guess the mocking of male virgins by IncelTears is exempt from the bullying and harassment rule even though that's what they do: Mock and bully incels. The media is trying to equate incels to terrorists, and they're using this to try to push further de-platforming of incel communities and the whole manosphere in general. Deplatforming doesn't work; It makes us stronger. As big tech continues to de-platform and censor us, our community grows, and it seems that they don't understand that. When Braincels was banned, we got over 300 applications requesting to join the forums, and many other users came back to the community from Braincels. Although our rules differ from Reddit in many ways, we welcomed many of Braincels members to our community.
Despite the demonization by the media, our community isn't the enemy. We provide a place for many of these unfortunate men to speak without being mocked, belittled, or censored. This place is one of the very few sites on the internet, where we can freely express ourselves. They continue to ignore the issues that we face and instead they try to make us look like the bad guys. Big tech considers censorship and de-platforming a solution to this problem, but it's not. Maybe they should consider bringing incels back into the fold instead of further isolating already unfortunate men. There was a story from The Verge that asks the question "Should we treat Incels as Terrorists?" I believe that this is the wrong way to approach this issue. If we want to get closer to solving some of the problems that we face, the media are going to have to stop demonizing us. Treating us like terrorists isn't going to get anything done. The media has to start seeing us as human beings with problems, and not terrorists.
The Joker movie came out on 10/4. At the Venice Film Festival, the movie got a very positive reception from the media and even won "Best Film" there. Once the screening happened in Toronto, they started to write a barrage of stories about the movie being "incel-friendly" or sympathetic to incels. They then made up a completely false premise about us possibly shooting up Joker screenings, but this doesn't make sense. The media claimed that this is a movie sympathetic to incels, but at the same time, they say that incels might shoot up screenings of Joker. These two ideas contradict each other. Why would incels go and shoot up a movie that is supposedly about them? The media is trying to cause chaos to cause something to happen in the hope that something will happen so that they can get those precious clicks and ad revenue.
Vice did an article called "Incel Shitposts Are Making People Nervous About the Joker Premiere" which included three threads from our forum. I took a look at each one of these threads, and I saw nothing that could against the law. I did notice a pattern: No one on the forum talked about the Joker film until the MEDIA started linking the joker film to incels and made articles about us. There is some important context that Vice leaves out about the contents of the thread. Most of the incels in the thread about how many "theaters do you think will get shot" pretty much agreed that no theaters would be shot up because of this movie. At the time of this writing, the movie Joker has been out for almost three days now, and there hasn't been a single shooting. Again, It feels like the media tried as hard as they can to get someone to do this, and the news coverage shows this. This is disgusting behavior. We shouldn't tolerate the media trying to push people that are already struggling with almost every aspect of their lives to do their bidding.
There's an article that came out today that explains this.
